Support Us
During semester break, an idea came to my mind, and I improved it to have a project. The idea was about Albanian's schools and Turkish people who live there. In Mamusa, most of the social services are done by Turkish Battalion. 2 months ago, there was no school if you do not count the two classes which all students are educated in. So, I wanted to send Turkish books to them to have a small library there. By this way, they will read more, young Turkish people will have a chance to meet their literature early, and this will be a bridge between two cultures. Now, the thing we should do is collecting and/or buying Turkish books. I have 50 books from Denizli, my hometown. The goal is minimum 100 books! Please help "us." This is not my project, but our project...

Lack of Attendance to School Activities
Halime Kayrakçı, The Koc School Boarding
Noyan SONGÜR's photograph exhibition ''Theme of Far East'' opened on 27th April 2009 at 5 p.m. in the Dormitory Social Center. The announcement to invite both daily and boarding students is made in the morning of that day, but the attendance was low for the opening ceremony.
The hall was prepared for the exhibition, and Noyan’s photographs waited to be seen. When I saw him, he was tired because he worked whole the night before that opening ceremony, but still he was excited. Also his photographs were excited, because they all were prepared for that day. The photographs have a different culture’s trace, and all taken from far away, Far East. Since lots of effort and time were spent on this organization, why the students could not achieve a high attendance?
Another example is that Sema Acarel, the girls’ dormitory supervisor, complains about their limitation to organize an exhibition for her and her students’ products, because people do not pay attention on their work, so that her students loss their enthusiasm . I know they have pocket full of scarves and coasters, but they are waiting for the public’s attention.
For energetic and entrepreneur students, Koc School is such a good school which supports the social activities, but this not enough. They also need to support of their friends, and high attendance to their activities. Everybody should be aware of how their support is important for activity coordinators. In this school everybody has an activity and so everybody will need to support, and they will ask for the high attendance, too. Only empathy!

What are the BENEFITS of boarding life?
What are the benefits of boarding life?
*Boarding students have more chance than daily students to see teachers after school.
*They can use the library, tennis courts, basketball and volleyball fields more than daily students, also without spending any time to go. (no traffic problem)
*They can sleep more than daily students every morning because they live in campus area.
*The boarding life helps students to become independent and mature individuals.
*The boarding students have chance to have closer relationship with other boarding students. These friendship often become for life because the students share their childhood, and adolescence memories.
*They support each other all the time.

My Invention
I would like to be an inventor who found the infinite peace for the world. I know ever body needs it, and this would be the most useful and helpful invention. Since the war and death are in our life and they are so close to us, nobody has the real peace in my opinion. However, if I would found the peace’s formula, there would be no war, no starving, no sadness, or no death. There would be no worry, and people would be happy. So their life would be longer automatically. Of course I would be famous if I invent the infinite peace

The Agenda
On Monday, tomorrow, we have no school because some of teachers were duty on local elections, also some other school were used for local elections. Some of five-day boarders came to school today for the musical. Now, they are staying in seven-day boarders' dormitories.
The bad thing is we don't have service bus to go to Kadıkoy tomorrow.
The breakfast will start at 9 o'clock.
And...
we have no study hall during this week.

Before and after the exams...
We are almost finished the common exams. Thank to God!
Now, it is time to study to regular classes, homeworks, and up-coming exams.
However, how were boarding students in this period? How did we work? What are we doing now?
The study halls were busy on exam days. People were under stress, and sometimes this stress made people aggressive, and I witnessed to some hot discussion. However, now most of exams are finished. Our supervisors are happy, because they do not need to warn people to sleep on time. Everybody already goes to sleep early, because we are really tired.
After exams, a group of girls watched a movie, "Alone." Some of them pop-corned, and I believe that they enjoyed the movie. My plan is cooking fish on Friday for my friends to relax and to release the exam stress.

Activities

With Sema Hanım,who is our supervisor, we have an activity to create new things from wastes. For example, my school organizer has not enough space to take my notes and write agenda. So, I bought a new organizer which has a leather cover. I wanted to make it vivid, and I knitted a new cover. It seems better now. Doesn't it?
Special thanks to Sema Hanım.

At the beginning of the first semester, we had a trip to welcome new boarding students and introduce Istanbul to them. We went to Chora Church and we had perfect time together. To meet new people, and speed time with them... That is the best part of being a boarder.
CHORA CHURCH
is an example of Byzantine Church.
is situated in the western, Edirnekapı district of Istanbul.
is converted into a mosque by the Ottoman ruler in 16th century.
became a secularised museum in 1948.
The interior of the building is covered by mosaics and frescoes.
